Practical training class utilizing and exploring the Suzuki Technique - a rigorous and disciplined physical training technique from Japan which trains the artist's will, presence, focus, and energy. Utilizing and exploring Anne Bogart's 9 Viewpoints - a playful physical technique which develops agile minds, builds ensemble, and trains the artist in composition through movement improvisations. Introduction to Rudolf Laban's Movement Efforts - a way of exploring the dynamics of movement and the relationship to inner intention. Introduction to mime technique with an emphasis on Metamorphosis (full-body transformation), Corporeal Mime (abstract expression in the body) and Pantomime (physical gesture in place of speech). Basic realistic acting techniques - freeing the body and voice, script analysis, character work. Discussion-based class introducing students to the basic concepts of theatre. Through the use of games and improv, creating new work with young people based on their experiences, framed by their school English curriculum. Discussion-based class examining the role of censorship and the media in contemporary culture. _ |
